Definition of Fake News

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, fake news is defined as "false stories that appear to be news, spread on the internet or using other media, usually created to influence political views or as a joke."

 

Types of Fake News

Purely Fake News- These are stories and websites designed to mislead, often to create add revenue

WW3: Trump Grants Military Full Authority to Declare War

Propaganda Websites- Biased websites designed to mislead, often political or idealogical 

Please note, this website is actually a website created to promote white supremacist propaganda, not the history of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 

Fake Images- Photoshopped or incorrectly identified images, designed to mislead

Hoax Websites- websites created on a fake topic, designed to mislead, can be satirical

Satirical Websites- websites with fake stories created to entertain, The Onion
