Studies in Race and Ethnicity

Studies in race and ethnicity include but are not limited to:

  • racial and ethnic inequality
  • sociocultural, socioeconomic, and health differences and similarities where race/ethncity is a factor
  • social construction of race/ethnicity
  • intersectionality of race/ethnicity with other social variables (e.g., age, sex, gender, religion, etc.)
  • history of race/ethnicity
  • race/ethnicity in media (e.g., literature, films, Internet, etc.)
  • racial and ethnic identity
  • hate crimes based on race or ethnicity
  • biracial and multiracial studies
  • migration (i.e., immigration and emigration) and assimilation issues
