MLA8 Citation Style

The Modern Language Association (MLA) has a few guiding principles to cite sources. The core elements of a citation are: author(s), title of source, title of container, version, number, publisher, publication date, location (url or doi) for online sources, and accessed date.

  1. Sample website citation:
    1. McCormick, Maggie. "Benefits of Getting a Bachelor of Arts Degree." Seattle PI, 2019. Hearst Seattle Media, https://education.seattlepi.com/benefits-getting-bachelor-arts-degree-3348.html. Accessed 10 Sept. 2019.
      1. Note: The title of the article is in quotations, the title of the container, the website, is italicized. 
  2. Sample article in a database:
    1. Hetland, Lois. “Connecting Creativity to Understanding." Educational Leadership, vol. 70, no. 5, 2013, pp. 65–70. EBSCOhost, search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=eue&AN=85177955&site=ehost-live. Accessed 10 Sept. 2019.
