Associations, Organizations, and Online Resources

According to Harvard Law School, "the term intergovernmental organization (IGO) refers to an entity created by treaty, involving two or more nations, to work in good faith, on issues of common interest." They also say, "the main purposes of IGOs were to create a mechanism for the world's inhabitants to work more successfully together in the areas of peace and security, and also to deal with economic and social questions" (Harvard Law School, 2022).

There are different types of IGOs such as, global, selective, specialized, and general. The type of IGO is determined by their affiliation or location (Harvard Law School, 2022). To find out more about IGOs and their legal issues and hiring practices, check out Harvard Law School explanations here.
