Sexual assault happens everywhere and can happen to anyone of any gender. As defined by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, sexual violence is ANY type of unwanted sexual contact.
The NSVRC emphasizes the importance of consent when it comes to sexual relationships, and it reminds us that society has often perpetuated norms that promote and protect those who assault rather than acknowledging that the victim is never at fault.
